RIDDICK, Dr. I.D. Pastor Emeritus Dr. I.D. Riddick, of Twinbrook Hills Baptist Church, age 87, died on Thursday, September 17, 2009, at Hospice of Hamilton. He was born on September 26, 1921, in Blytheville, Arkansas, the son of the late Van B. and Willie B. (nee Dial) Riddick. He received his education in Little Rock, Arkansas, and continued his education at the Missionary Baptist Seminary and received his Doctorate at Eastern Baptist Institute. On December 13, 1945, in Blytheville, Arkansas, Pastor Riddick married Nina Ineze Longacre. He served during WWII in the U.S. Army receiving four Bronze Stars and he was awarded the Purple Heart. Pastor Riddick became a Christian in April 1950 and he has served the Lord faithfully for 60 years. He served as Pastor for seven years in Arkansas and then came to Ohio where he was Pastor of Twinbrook Hills Baptist Church from 1963-1983. He was a member of the American Legion National, Founder of the Hamilton Christian School and the Twinbrook Hills Baptist Day Care, Vice President of Eastern Baptist Institute, and former Trustee of Christian Schools of Ohio. Pastor Riddick is survived by his wife of over 63 years, Nina; sons, Pastor Dennis Riddick and wife DeRonna of Hamilton and David Riddick and wife Betty of Hurricane, West Virginia; four grandchildren, Dennis Ray, Deron, Chad and Courtney Riddick Johnson and husband Chris; five great-grandchildren Lauren, Victoria, Paige, Peyton and Drew Riddick; brother Pastor Bill Riddick of Gulfport, Mississippi, and Jack Riddick of St. Joseph, Missouri; sister, Elaine Murphree of Houston, Texas; nieces and nephews; and a host of church family and friends. Pastor Riddick was also preceded in death by his brothers, J.W. Riddick and Van B. Riddick. Funeral services will be held at Twinbrook Hills Baptist Church, 40 Wrenwood Drive, Hamilton, OH 45013, on Sunday, September 20, 2009, at 6pm with Pastor Dennis Riddick and Pastor Dale Adkins officiating. Family and friends will be received prior to the service from 3pm-6pm at the church. Graveside services with military honors will be held at Millville Cemetery on Monday, September 21, 2009, at 10am.
Tonight my home church is having a home going celebration for Bro. I.D. He touched so many lives (mine included). I’ll never forget the lessons that I learned from him. It would have been wonderful to be there tonight to celebrate his life. Praise the Lord, we will have an eternity together!
