Happy Father’s Day!

Happy Father’s Day to all the dad’s and to the many men who are like dad’s to so many children without one!  I am privileged to be Neomi and Natali’s dad.  Being a parent is a huge responsibility but it is also a huge blessing! I am so thankful for the godly dad who raised me along with my godly mother.  My dad is one of my heroes, not only as a dad, but as a Christian.  I have also been blessed with a godly father-in-law who raised a wonderful daughter for me to marry! I never dreamed being a dad would be all that it has been. I have a long way to go in improving my “dad skills”, but thankfully Neomi and Natali let most of mistakes slide, for now!

The Lord blessed us with great services this morning!  We had 3 visitors – 2 of whom were dads!  It was very encouraging to have these first time visitors.  Looking forward to this evenings service!

Fellowship Sunday

The Lord blessed us with a good services today!  We had 2 first time visitors and 3 returning visitors for a total of 13! Every Sunday should be a day of fellowship with those that come but often it is hard to get people to stay around after the services.  After this morning’s service we had lunch prepared by Rebecca!  She prepared a ton of arroz chaufa con pollo (chicken fried rice) and manwich, or as we like to call it “sloppy joe’s”.  After lunch we went to a local park and played volleyball and soccer together.  We had a great time of fellowship.  You can really get to know people playing games together.  Most of the time it is hard to get non-church goers to loosen up while they are at church so it was good to see everyone loosen up and have fun together.

Trip to Lima

The Marks Family – with baby Amadea!

This week we had to travel to Lima to do some paperwork for our resident visas.  We lost our residents status being in the U.S. for over 6 months and we are in the process of regaining it.  We had to go to Interpol and get fingerprinted, as well as fill out some other paperwork.  They will send our fingerprints to the F.B.I. in the U.S. and then once the background check is back we can get our resident cards.  This normally takes 20 to 30 days.  While in Lima we took advantage of the opportunity to eat at the American restaurants there (Chili’s, Friday’s, Pizza Hut).  We also were able to do some other activities as a family that we are not able to do in Cusco.  The Marks family – Todd, Rosalinda, and baby Amadea happened to be in Lima at the same time doing some paperwork so we got to spend some time with them also.  We worked with them for almost 2 years in Arequipa.  It was good to see them after nearly 3 years.

A month in

We are a month into our new church plant.  It is hard to believe that 4 Sundays have passed so far.  We are thanking the Lord for those He has brought us.  This morning it was just our family in the services, which I know it shouldn’t be a discouragement, but in all honesty it was.  This evening we had a total of 13 with 7 first time visitors; praise the Lord!  This Sunday and last Sunday in our evening service we have been doing outreach showing the film “Courageous”.  Everyone really seemed to enjoy it and the film really hit home with the issues it dealt with.  Thank you all for your prayers and please continue to pray for us!
