On June 24th Cusco celebrated it’s anniversary. The entire month they have celebrations and parades. By the end of the month all the celebration really gets old. They save the best for last though and on June 24th have a huge parade that starts at 9 a.m. in one location and then moves to two other locations. Inti Raymi is a reenactment of how the Inca’s celebrated the winter solstice and worshipped the sun god – Inti. This was the first time that we actually went to see the parade and reenactment and it was all about worshiping a false god. While it was interesting to see it was sad to know how many died centuries ago without knowing the true God and how many now still do not know the one, true God.
