This week we traveled to the capital city of Peru – Lima. Traveling to Lima is an expensive trip for us and Lima is a big, big city so we try to only go when we have to. A plus of being in the big city is the taste of the U.S. that we get at all the American restaurants there, as well, we like to walk around the malls. Those are about the only “pluses” for us. The downside is lots of traffic, long and expensive taxi rides, and no sunshine (at least this time of year). This was a must trip for us because we had to finish up paperwork for our resident visas. We praise the Lord we were able to get our residency cards with no problems! We had to wait in 1 line for over 2 hours. After that we waited in another line to get our pictures taken for at least 30 minutes and then we waited in line another 2 hours to get the cards. All the waiting did not make for a fun day but the result was worth the wait. Having our resident visas again will enable us to do things in the country that you can’t do with just a U.S. passport like: open a bank account, have a monthly cellphone plan, get a Peruvian driver’s license, etc. We thank the Lord for keeping us safe in Lima and getting us back to Cusco safely!

Saying Goodbye
On Tuesday we said goodbye to Rebecca’s mom, brother, and sister. We had a great time with them and were able to do some things with them this time that we have never done since living in Peru. One of the highlights of their visit was our trip to Puno. We visited the highest navigable lake in the world – Lake Titicaca. It is roughly 3,582 sq. miles which makes it the largest lake in South America. I would definitely recommend this trip if anyone is in the area. Also, I would recommend going through SAS Travel. They did a great job of coordinating this trip for us. Here are some pictures of our visit:

Natali and Neomi’s Baptism
What a Sunday we had; it was such a blessed day! It was a privilege as a dad to baptize both my girls this afternoon. Natali was saved on July 21st and Neomi was saved on April 28th. We had a great time of fellowship after the baptismal service with lunch and dessert made by my wife and mother-in-law!
Happy Birthday Natali and Neomi!
On Tuesday we celebrated Natali and Neomi’s 8th birthday! We can’t believe that they have been with us now for almost 7 years! God truly blessed us with the privilege to adopt our daughters! They are not without their challenges, especially when it comes to sleeping, but we are so thankful for them both!
