Easter Sunday

We praise the Lord for giving us a wonderful day to celebrate His resurrection!  While we celebrate His resurrection every Sunday.  Easter Sunday is always a great reminder of the hope and victory we have as Christians each and everyday because of Jesus’ resurrection.  The Lord granted us a beautiful day along with great services.  We were blessed to have a family visit with us for the first time this morning also, praise the Lord!  After the services we had everyone over to our house for lunch.  Rebecca cooked all afternoon Saturday getting ready and the people pitched in bringing food as well.  We had a great time of fellowship.  It was such a privilege to spend Easter with the church family that God is giving us!  Here are some pictures of the weekend:

Blessing after blessing!

The Lord has been blessing the ministry and we are so thankful for what HE is doing!  The end of February and this month of March we have had several visitors at the church plant.  We believe the Lord is giving us a core group and we are so excited for the people He has brought us.  This morning we had a high day of 19 in the morning services and we praise the Lord for this!  Last night (Saturday) we had some of the youth over for a fun time of fellowship playing games and just hanging out; as all good Baptist we did have food!  Two Saturdays ago a couple of the youth also helped me pass out Scripture portions (John and Romans) with a video called “What is the Gospel” (“Qué es el evangelio?”). We passed them out in the main square of our district – San Jeronimo. Also, God continues to bless the children’s ministry on Saturdays.  Natali and Neomi have finished the 2nd grade and will be moving on to the 3rd grade after a short break! Thank you all for your prayers! Please continue to pray and pray that God would be honored and glorified in all that we do.  Here are some pictures of some of our latest activities:

Wet Day

Here in Peru, February is the month of “Carnival”.  While there are some bad traditions associated with Carnival, in Peru, it is mostly just to get each other wet.  Girls and guys have to be watchful the entire month because you never know when you might get hit with a balloon filled with paint, or a water balloon, or even a bucket of water.  We finished off this month of kids club with a water balloon fight.  Today was not the best day to do it.  It has been raining off and on the whole day, but the kids have been looking forward to it and wanted to go ahead and do it.  We filled up 200 water balloons for the occasion.  We did some relay races and then the kids had about 120 balloons to hit each other with.  Thankfully, I escaped without even getting hit.

Friend Day

This morning we had “Friend Day” at our church plant.  We have been preparing for this day and announcing it for about a month.  We invited nearly all the Peruvian friends we have as well as many other acquaintances.  While we didn’t have as many as we expected we praise the Lord for bringing 2 visitors! We had a great morning! We had pens and key chains made up to give to everyone and we also gave away Bibles.  We finished the service off as all good Baptist do – with food!  We also had a great kid’s club this weekend with 28 children in attendance!
