Monday, July 28th will mark the 193rd anniversary of the country of Peru! What a privilege God has given us not only to come from a free country but to also live and serve in a free country. This weekend began what is called “Fiestas Patrias”. The schools and universities take a mid-year break and some people take a short vacation. Recently, two of our young men were back in town taking advantage of the break. One young man was back from Bible Seminary in Arequipa and another one was on leave from the Army. It was great to have them both at church last Sunday. Paul (pictured below), the young man who has been at Seminary, challenged us with a short 5 minute message. It was great to see him put into practice what he is learning at Seminary.

This morning at church we celebrated with a Tres Leches cake and a short video expressing Peru’s culture and heritage. The Lord truly blessed! ¡Viva el Perú!

Today, June 24th, is the celebration of the city of Cusco’s anniversary – a.k.a. Inti Raymi!  We celebrated with our people from the church plant this past Sunday.  It was a great day!  We had everyone over to our house and grilled out.  We also taught them how to play corn toss and played some other games.  It was a great day and helped us get a little deeper in our relations with our church family here.

The last part of April and almost half of May we enjoyed a visit from our family. It was such an encouragement to have them here! They were a great help in the ministry helping us celebrate our 2nd Anniversary and Mother’s Day. It was a special treat for my wife to celebrate Mother’s Day with her mom. This was the first one they were able to be together for in at least 9 years. Our family was also a big help with our recent move. We moved into our 4th house in the past 7 years here in Cusco. We could not have done it all without our family’s help!

Today we celebrated 2 years at the mission. There have been a lot of ups and downs, and there will be more, but God has been faithful! We had a great day with 21 in attendance! It was a day of reflection on what God has done and a day to challenge our church to continue moving forward! We praise the Lord for what He has done, is doing, and will do!
